6 Month Report
November 8, 2007
Today Brie is 6 months old! To “celebrate” we headed to Portland to see her tummy surgeon. She is up to 14# 7oz. and doing great. He was very impressed with how her stomach is looking and how well her belly button has healed. While we were there we stopped in the see a friend that helped throughout my pregnancy and visit with the doc that took care of me the first time I was admitted for monitoring. I can honestly say everyone at OHSU was awesome. Not only did they take care of Brie and I, we made some great friends!
Back to the baby ~ It is so neat to see how big she is getting. She is a roller now. Actually, She won’t stay on her back. As soon as I put her down she flips over to her tummy. She is “swimming” and kicking her legs. She really wants to be on the move. Sometimes she is able to get a leg up under her, but so far she just scoots around in a circle.
Brie loves sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, carrots, spaghetti sauce, apples, pears, and clam chowder. She does not like green beans or peas.
Tuesday we are leaving to head to Seattle through Saturday – I have meetings and then will be at Fish Expo. Then we head up to Sitka. I can’t wait. My family is excited about meeting her. I am looking forward to camping, hunting, and seeing friends.
Weekend at our house
November 4, 2007
Just in case you were wondering what our family was up to on our FIRST weekend without football since AUGUST, here’s a glimpse at what we’ve been doing:
Friday night we all went to the Astoria High football game against Tillamook. Ron did another article for the paper. Astoria won, but it wasn’t enough to take them to the play-offs. Now they are done for the season.
Saturday morning we stayed in, then at 4pm Hank’s friends came over for his birthday party. Yes, over a month overdue. We had it planned for the weekend following his birthday, but had to reschedule due to Brie’s chicken pox. Hank’s football schedule and his friends’ soccer schedules have been very busy. This was the first weekend that we could get everyone together. The boys went to the pool, enjoyed pizza, cake and movies. To my suprise they were passed out by 12:30am, and awake at 6am.
Ron had to be at work at 8am today. I made the boys breakfast and they continued to play video games and run around outside playing with paint balls and a slingshot. After they all went home at noon I shampoo’d carpets (white carpets are HIGH MAINTENANCE) and then Hank and I went through his closet to evaluate what still fits and what doesn’t.
Chances are that he will need some more warm clothes before we head to Alaska! The kid keeps growing and growing. While we are home in Sitka we plan on doing some hunting and camping. I’m hoping that Hank will get to shoot his first deer. Our entire family is headed out to False Island for Thanksgiving… so far 20+ people are planning on going! Should be fun. I can’t wait!
Plane crash
August 7, 2007
Today I heard from my mom that there was a small plane crash in Sitka. This happened right on a small street close to downtown Sitka. It sounds like there are no survivors. I’ll let you know when I hear an update.
~On another note, I picked three more tomatoes today! Woo hoo!
It’s a small, small world

This morning on our way to church we stopped at our favorite coffee shop. As I was standing in line I got the feeling that someone was staring at me, I turned to see a very familiar face. Could it be, Mrs. Will? My high school history, government, and social studies teacher???? She was looking at me with a very curious look on her face. I am sure the look on my face reflected the same curious expression. “Mrs. Will?” I blurted out. To which she responded, “Pam? What are you doing here?” So, after a few minutes of catching up she met Ron and Brie. Of course my husband asked what kinda of student I was. Hmmm… her answer??? “lively” I guess that could mean a few things. She told him I was never one to sleep through class, and that I kept the discussion hopping. Ha ha ha. It turns out that she was in town visiting her daughter (who I used to be on the swim team with). Liz (Mrs. Will) was headed back to Sitka today. What an interesting encounter!
My little brothers 2nd grade teacher, Mr. Bahrt, lives close by also, just across the river in Seaview. I ran into him in Safeway a few months ago. Kinda neat huh?
