Family photos *pre-baby*

July 30, 2007

Well, I am finally getting around to getting some of these ordered, but thought I would share with everyone else…. In April we went and had some family pictures taken before the arrival of the newest Tremain. It’s hard to look at these now and see how HUGE I was. Below is the link. You can order any that you want. Craig is awesome. He will re-touch them before they print. These are just the raw images, no touch ups — yet!

Adventures in Portland

This morning we packed up early and headed to Portland for another round of doctors appointments. We were scheduled to start at 9:20 with an ultrasound, a non-stress test, then an appointment with my OB doc. They were running behind, so appointments actually got started at about 10:30.

The ultrasound began with a little bit of a scare. The woman doing the ultrasound found her stomach (inside her abdomen) but could not find her bladder. At this stage in her development it would be unusual for her bladder to have traveled outside her body (given that the opening in her abdomen is only 2cm, but not totally unheard of. After some careful looking, and review by another doc they did find the bladder (inside her abdomen) like it should be.

Back in January at my initial ultrasound they determined that I had a small cyst on my left ovary. I guess it’s a pretty common occurrence, and usually does not cause a problem. During pregnancy your ovaries are not active so they should not change… SHOULD NOT, is the key there. The cyst on my ovary has gotten bigger. They will continue to monitor it, but it seems that if it keeps changing they will remove it (at least I have two). I’ll keep you posted.

The best news that came out of our ultrasound is that our little girl is GROWING! Growth and weight gain are usually problematic for babies with gastroschisis. At our last appointment (29 weeks) she was 2 pounds,10 ounces. Today (33 weeks) she was 4 pounds, 11 ounces. Our little girl gained over two pounds since the last time. WOW! Her growth measured great!

The NST (non-stress test) went great. She did fantastic. Her heart accelerated like it should when she moved…. and you have to love that they give you some juice, cheese, and crackers to snack on. For the rest of the pregnancy I will be having NST’s in Astoria every Thursday and appointments in Portland every Monday.

After the NST we met with my doctor. They did a blood test because I came into contact with a child with Parvovirus (potentially fatal to young fetus’) and they did an internal exam. My cervix is not giving any indication that it’s ready for me to have her. I have to guess that being BREECH might have a little something to do with that. She is still up high. The doctors don’t think that she will turn for a vaginal birth so after the doctor answered all of my questions and went over some logistics she scheduled my c-section. What? Scheduled my c-section? Yes, I actually have a date on the calendar booked and an operating room waiting for me on the morning of MAY 14th. It seems crazy to know 4 weeks from today we will have our little girl here. We have our bags packed and are ready to go. The doctor recommended that we bring them with for each visit…so we are prepared if they need to bump up the date!

~On another note, yesterday Ron and my friend Linda threw me a suprise baby shower. It was sooo nice, and so unexpected. Another friend took pictures, so I’ll be sure to post some of those and more about the shower in the next couple of days when I get copies of the pictures.

More Later!!!
